My favorite moment was will arnett revealing how conan took Conan's parents death and the manic episode that led to a huge joke but it was how conan copes. I hope you get time to see it. It is such rich writing here, Nirmal. Thank you for sharing with us. Happy new year!

The "humor cliff" research is facinating because it reveals how adulthood systematically trains spontaneity out of us. The Colbert quote about laughter keeping fear at bay gets at something deeper than just coping, its about maintaining cognitive flexibilty when life gets rigid. I've noticed that people who retain their ability to laugh freely tend to adapt better to uncertainty, probly because humor forces perspective shifts that rigid thinking cant accomodate.
